Mura (pronounced moura) is a Ngoumba word, one of the many languages spoken in southern Cameroon in Kribi. Mura can mean both "girl" and "woman".
The Mura skirt is a nod to Christine, eding creator's mum who is from Kribi. Christine had three beautiful children from age 17. The Mura skirt is a tribute to the carefree girl that Christine did not have the chance to be, because very quickly, she had to go from girl to woman.
The Mura skirt is a skater skirt with volume. It has a band of 10 cm which allows to embellish the size and to bend it. The Mura skirt opens at the front from top to bottom thanks to its fabric buttons in the same print as the fabric of the skirt. It has a lining inside to bring more body to the skirt. The skirt is short and comes slightly above the knees.
The fabric chosen for the Abeng dress is 100% made in Douala, Cameroon. The cotton used to make the wax fabric comes from Maroua in the far north of the country. Maroua cotton is particularly renowned for its quality. The shapes of the patterns are perpendicular lines that entwine each other like raffia. Raffia is commonly used in Cameroon for the manufacture of various decorative and furnishing objects.
In the colors, we find mostly yellow, red and brown.
The Mura skirt is fresh, full of pep, sparkling and carefree.
