Étoiles de Cap-Vert Sneakers - Umòja
The Manjak fabric used in this model is part of the historical heritage of Senegal. The particularity of the Manjak lies in its weaving technique. It is a technique that requires precise know-how that only weaving families have been able to transmit from generation to generation. It takes no less than 3 artisan weavers to achieve this traditional masterpiece.
It is in Saint-Louis in Senegal that Maï created his art workshop with the aim of safeguarding and cherishing this ancestral knowledge. Through his workshop, Maï supports the weavers of his community.
The patterns of this model are inspired by Cape Verde. Indeed, the stars present on the shoes represent the 10 islands that compose the archipelago of Cape Verde. The precious Ugandan Lubbugo, a tree bark registered with UNESCO heritage, was also used in the making of this model.
As you can see, our "Étoiles de Cap-Vert" (Stars of Cape Verde) shoe is a tribute to the Manjak weaving of Senegal and the Ugandan Lubbugo. Very comfortable for walking, this model perfectly combines elegance, flexibility and comfort.
